Battosai's Successor

My third cosplay-- displaying the paragon of villains: Shishio Makoto.

He is such an awesome Rurouni Kenshin character-- how could I not pay tribute to him?

Chronologically, he is my 2nd cosplay but I put him aside to finish Zero. This costume also marks my first foray into fabrics and sewing.

Design: He is based off of Nobuhiro Watsuki's redesigns-- found in the Japanese rerelease of the Kenshin series into the kanzenban format. The specific image reference can be found here: [link]

Crafting: I still put my armor making skills to use by constructing his samurai waist armor, hachigane, and sword. The jinbaori "vest" and bandages were all sown by me.

The sword, Mugenjin, is also serrated if you look closely. No human oils though. <.<

Results: I enjoyed displaying this awesome villain and learning some new skills along the way. I definitely plan to wear it for future conventions. Not to mention, it's easily my most portable and comfortable costume so far. xD
